Inside the sleek design district of New York sits Minotti’s landmark in the city and their flagship store in the NoMad Design District. The mono-brand store opened in 2010 and nds helped to pioneer the development of the NoMad Design District.

The Minotti Brothers, Roberto and Renato, are the second generation of a family of ultra high end furniture purveyors and have helped to establish 37 branches of Minotti stores all over the world. The brothers sat down for an interview to discuss their growing presence in the design district and the craftsmanship of their work.

While speaking with Roberto, who was wearing his fine black tailored Italian suit, he discussed how “Inspiration can come from every part, from the heart, movies, travel, everything. The important thing is to be very curious, very open with your mind, to look, to understand how everything moves. To learn and never stop being curious, this is important.”

Their curiosity has guided them to making unique furniture pieces that have transcended market taste and established their presence in the international high end market. “We don’t follow usually the evolution of our other competitors. But we try to realize our style, to give our signals of the market.”

Minotti is still manufactured in Italy after 60 years in the market because the Minotti family still believes that Italian Manufacturing is the best in the world. The exclusive clientele that walk into the Minotti stores all around the world are willing to pay for that privilege.

“I think that the quality of the handmade that we can produce in Italy is the highest quality of the world,” said Renato. Exporting 90% of that quality production all over their world is the main staple of there business, catering to a clientele that can afford to pay the price of luxury.

Luckily for them while the Italian economy has stagnated in recent years due in part to a slow recovery following the Great Recession, their international presence has continued to grow.

The clientele of design enthusiast keep coming in and in the last few years alone celebrities such as Beyonce, Jay-Z and Kanye West have all come into the showroom in the NoMad Design District to take their pick at a selection of some of the world’s finest craftsmanship on display.
